Harry Allen is an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Auckland where he has taught archaeology since 1973. His teaching and research ranges from the history and archaeology of northern Australia and New Zealand to heritage conservation. Harry Allen was a Board Member of the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and a member of the Trust’s Maori Heritage Council between 1993 and 2006. He was recently awarded an ONZM for services to New Zealand archaeology in the 2008 New Year’s honors.
